735 Broad Street, Chattanooga 37402
National Register of Historic Places since 1979
The James Building, located in the heart of Chattanooga’s business district, was constructed in 1906 by renowned architect Reuben Harrison Hunt and Signal Mountain developer C.E. James. The 12 story, 128,000 square foot high rise was the city’s first skyscraper. The original steel and concrete building was expanded to the north in 1917 to add another 48 rooms. Adorned with the elegance of rich, hand-finished woodwork, beautiful marble and wrought iron, the James Building is now home to a prestigious lineup of financial, insurance and legal firms, as well as high end retail. Classical Revival architecture and pristine restoration earned the James Building placement on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. Due to efforts by current owners, Urban Story Ventures, The James Building is Energy Star rated. Energy Star is a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency voluntary program that helps businesses and individuals save money and protect our climate through superior energy efficiency.See Available Space
James Building (DEW James, LLC) Tenant ProfileMeet Our Tenants
Urban Story Ventures has changed the landscape of my small business and of so many Entrepreneurs in Chattanooga! I can't say enough good things about the whole staff. They have made bringing my small business to Chattanooga so smooth. The whole team has all of their tenants best interests at heart and will work hard to help them succeed. Highly recommend if you are looking for space to see your dreams come true!
Urban Story Ventures is an incredibly supportive group! Their small team helped us find the perfect location for our young business and have been champions of our mission every step of the way. It is rare to have a development group actually care about the businesses that they house. We feel fortunate to be connected to Urban Story. Best Landlords EVER.
We've had a great experience with USV. The building (James Building) and our space are always clean and well-kept, they've invested in good amenities like the fitness center, and any maintenance issues are always addressed quickly. Overall, they're responsive and easy to work with. Highly recommend.
We had the fortune to work on an Urban Story project recently and wanted to leave a review. As a small business owner, clients come in all varieties, but Urban Story was one of the best to work for, by far. They were concise in their expectations and schedule, while still being easy to communicate with on a day to day level. They were absolutely great with any issues that came up (it was a large project that took several months). I would recommend Urban Story, absolutely.
Urban Story Ventures is unlike any other development company in Chattanooga. I am so grateful to have stumbled across this company and to now be one of their tenants. They’re truly a blessing to small businesses, hoping success for all of their tenants.
Urban Story Ventures was a pleasure to work with, always responsive and communicative, pleasant and friendly. Their properties are beautiful and I especially appreciate their focus on restoring historical buildings with character and bringing them forward into our modern day city. I will definitely continue doing business with them in the future!
