Edney Innovation Center (DEW Edney, LLC)

1100 Market Street, Chattanooga 37402

Originally built in 1953 for TVA, the 85,000 square foot Edney Building currently anchors Chattanooga’s Innovation District. Now boasting ten floors of office and retail, plus a crowning rooftop event space, The Edney Innovation Center serves as a connecting point, support base, and catalyst for the area’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. Due to its strategic location, it will benefit from proximity to other crucial physical, economic, and social assets required to attract and support technology-based entrepreneurs and help them grow their companies, thus spinning off benefits for the community as a whole, officials said. At the time of construction, electric heating of the newly erected eight-story TVA office completed a category of different structures classified as all-electric. The building is brick veneer over 12-inch concrete block with reinforced steel pilasters and concrete slab flooring. The property, which TVA owned for 65 years, has been re-envisioned as the hub of Chattanooga’s Innovation District by current owners, Mayor Berke, The Enterprise Center and Society of Work. Due to efforts by current owners, Urban Story Ventures, The Edney Innovation Center is Energy Star rated. Energy Star is a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency voluntary program that helps businesses and individuals save money and protect our climate through superior energy efficiency.
